## Ask for feedback and ideas

The less said about how you feel the more said. Remote work is probably one of the most collaborative work environments you will ever encounter. Sure, it can be intimidating at first. It can be very lonely. But that is why you need to be there when others are working — they need you. And you need to be there when they’re not working. They are your peers. They are your mentors. They are your peers at work. And you need to be there for them during office hours when there are no office hours because you are there to support them 24/7. When you give feedback, don’t just give it to them and then walk away. Take the time to get to know the person and see what else you can give. Feedback is an opportunity to get your precisely input into their frame of reference. You don’t have to say everything you need to — just enough so that they are aware of how much you really want to help them. When they need more information, just be specific and don’t skydive all over the thing. They want to know what happened, what they can do, and what they can’t do. That’s how you get the feedback you need. When people need more information, they need reassurance. They need reassurance that they need to ask. That’s how you get the feedback you need.
